The Grade File › Explore majors

Start with what you want to study

Choose a field. Explore the schools.

See which schools reported a bachelor’s category, what the available graduate earnings show, and how college costs compare.

Early directory: 20 selected schools · 4 field categories · Bachelor’s degrees · 2023–24 reported records

These are specific federal categories, not every specialization with a similar name. A matching search term does not establish that a particular degree or professional qualification is offered.

How to read this early directory

1. Choose a subject and study route

We look for a bachelor’s-level record in this subject. A school can report a subject with zero degrees awarded that year. No matching record does not prove the subject is unavailable today.

2. Compare the available figures

Income and program records cover different student groups and years. Withheld income is not zero. Group income cannot identify an individual campus, and school-wide costs are not a price for a major.

3. Verify the next step

Each listed school has an official academic directory link. Use that source to check current programs and entry requirements; the federal record alone cannot establish today’s availability.

Sources, dates and sample selection
Program records
Academic year 2023–24 (July 1, 2023–June 30, 2024). IPEDS provisional file, released September 2025. Federal subject classification: CIP 2020.
Students completed their degrees
2017–18 or 2018–19. These are different students from the program-record year above.
Annual income measured
2022 or 2023, four years after completion. Only federally aided completers working and not enrolled when measured are included.
Inflation adjustment
Income amounts are adjusted to 2024 dollars: a common purchasing-power basis, not the year students graduated or earned the income.

What is up to date?
This pilot uses the audited 2023–24 record. NCES has announced a newer 2024–25 completions release; its files are not yet integrated. Source and official-directory checks: . A page rebuild does not refresh these records.
Why these 20 schools?
The sample includes public, nonprofit and for-profit schools, small and large institutions, specialist colleges and shared campus reporting groups. It also includes missing and suppressed-data cases. This early directory covers only these selected schools. It is not a ranking, a complete directory or a nationally representative sample.

Compiled by The Grade File using automated data processing and AI-assisted development and drafting. Source checks and consistency tests support the directory; university-specific requirements still need official verification.
