The formula, and why it's unforgiving
Your cumulative GPA after next semester is a credit-weighted blend of what you've done and what you're about to do. Solving that blend for the unknown term gives:
Required term GPA = (target × (completed + next) − current × completed) ÷ next credits
Worked example with the defaults: 60 credits at 3.10, target 3.30, taking 15 credits. The target requires 3.30 × 75 = 247.5 total quality points; you currently hold 3.10 × 60 = 186. The gap of 61.5 points must come from 15 credits, so 61.5 ÷ 15 = 4.10 — above the 4.0 ceiling, meaning one semester can't do it. Drop the target to 3.25 and the same math asks for a 3.85: brutal but real.
