About The Grade File

The Grade File is a set of free calculators and data pages for one recurring moment: a student (or a teacher with a stack of papers) needs a number, needs it right, and needs it now. What do I need on the final? Where does my GPA land? What did this school's admitted class actually score?

How we work — three rules

1. Official data or no data. Every number on a data page traces to a government or testing-agency source — U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard, IPEDS, College Board, ACT, UCAS, the IBO, and others — with the version and date labeled on the page. Details in Methodology & data sources.
2. No invented precision. Where the honest answer is a range, we show a range. The digital SAT has no official single-value conversion table, so our SAT page shows College Board's official ranges instead of a made-up number. AP cut scores are third-party estimates, so they're labeled that way. Where earnings data is suppressed under federal privacy rules, we say so instead of guessing.
3. Your numbers stay on your device. No accounts, no uploads. Saved calculator data lives in your browser and nowhere else.

Who runs this

The Grade File is an independent website. It is not affiliated with the College Board, ACT Inc., the Department of Education, or any school. There's no invented team page to show you — just the work: every formula is printed on its page, every data source is cited, and corrections are welcome at [email protected].
