About The Grade File

The Grade File is a set of free calculators and data pages for one recurring moment: a student (or a teacher with a stack of papers) needs a number, needs it right, and needs it now. What do I need on the final? Where does my GPA land? What did students who enrolled at this school and submitted test scores report?

How we work — three rules

  1. Show the source and the limits. College profiles use U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard and IPEDS records. Exam tools cite testing agencies where official tables exist; third-party estimates, such as AP cut scores, are labeled separately. A file's release date does not tell you when its students were observed. Details in Methodology & data sources.
  2. No invented precision. The SAT tool uses College Board’s ranges for paper Practice Test 4, not raw counts from an adaptive digital test. When the data does not support a result, the tool explains that limitation. AP cut scores are third-party estimates, so they're labeled that way. Where earnings data is suppressed under federal privacy rules, we say so instead of guessing.
  3. Your numbers stay on your device. No accounts, no uploads. Saved calculator entries are saved in this browser. Shared links contain the selections named in the sharing message; see the privacy policy for their scope.

How the site is reviewed

Software assembles the college pages from versioned records. AI-assisted development helps build and revise the site; generated wording is not evidence for a fact. Before a release, we run checks for data-source references, missing and suppressed values, formulas, links and page output, and test changed interactions in a browser. These checks do not mean that every institution has received an independent manual audit.

Independence and contact

The Grade File is an independent website operated by an individual. It is not affiliated with the College Board, ACT Inc., the Department of Education, or any school. The site brings published records into charts and tools for students and teachers. It does not speak for an admissions office, and it does not predict individual admission, aid offers or future earnings. Corrections can be sent to [email protected].
