What this site stores on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember:

These records share the gradecalcs.v1 storage key on this browser. The site does not upload this saved record or sync it to an account. If browser storage is unavailable, the tools can still work without remembering their state.

Clearing and sharing

Remove an individual school from Recently viewed, or use Remove recently viewed schools on the comparison page to remove all viewed schools while keeping saved calculator data. The footer's Clear saved data on this device button removes all saved calculator entries, targets, recently viewed schools and preferences from this browser after confirmation. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings also removes them.

Comparison choices are held on the current page. A comparison link names the schools you explicitly choose; a filter link contains the filter options you choose. These links do not include saved grades, calculator inputs, your browsing-history list, or the cost helper's income, budget and home-state inputs. Anyone receiving a shared link can see its selections. Clearing local data does not erase links you already shared.

Sharing a final-grade result includes the result and target in the message or image you choose to share. The generated page link does not include your worksheet. Review the message or image before sharing. A saved target does not schedule an email or push notification.

Website requests and contact

Normal page requests reach Cloudflare, our hosting provider, with connection information such as your IP address and the requested URL. The site also caches static files in your browser for loading and offline use. These requests and cached files are separate from the saved calculator and school-history record.

Using the tools requires no account, sign-up or email address. Emailing [email protected] shares your address and message through your email provider.

Analytics and your choice

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit. When analytics is allowed, your browser contacts Google and sends page visits, cookie identifiers, general device/browser information and approximate location. This is not anonymous just because we do not ask for your name. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, to provide the service. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Fine-grained location and device collection is disabled. We have configured user-level and event-level data retention to two months without renewal for new activity. Aggregated reports may be retained longer.

We send only the public page path, without URL query parameters or fragments. Referring links are reduced to the referring website's origin. We do not send calculator inputs or results, GPA, grades, course names, income, budgets, search text, comparison selections or your saved school-history record. Automatic form, search, scroll and click measurement, Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled. No advertising tags are enabled.

For a first visit, the browser asks our existing host, Cloudflare, for a country estimate. This request carries normal connection information. We use only the country field, and do not save the diagnostic response or pass it to Google. Outside the United States, or when the estimate is unavailable, we ask before loading Google Analytics. In the United States analytics can start automatically unless you have opted out. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track by keeping analytics off. Location estimates can be affected by VPNs and are not precise.

Use Analytics settings in the footer to allow or turn off analytics at any time. Every tool works without it. Your choice is saved separately in this browser for up to 180 days under gradefile.analytics-consent.v1. Google analytics cookies (_ga and this site's stream cookie) have a configured lifetime of up to 180 days. Turning analytics off stops further measurement and removes these cookies; it does not delete data already sent to Google.

Clearing saved calculator data leaves your analytics choice intact, so an opt-out is not lost. Clearing all site data in browser settings also removes the choice. If storage is unavailable, we cannot remember it for a later visit. Reports may miss visitors who decline, block analytics or have JavaScript disabled; bot filtering does not guarantee that every recorded visit is human.

Advertising

Advertising code is not currently enabled. If Google AdSense is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and others. You may opt out of personalized advertising at Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. Advertising and consent disclosures will be reviewed before advertising is enabled.
